A home for Hampshire's creative spirit
Based in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, Kate Hughes Creative is a gathering place for creative expression.

Welcome
Here at Kate Hughes Creative, we're on a mission to make Hampshire a genuinely brilliant place to be an artist.
Whether that means picking up a paintbrush for the very first time, developing a skill you've been quietly nurturing for years, or getting the chance to show your work to a wider audience, we want this to be the place where that happens.

Our approach is shaped by our commitment to creating a space where art is made, taught, and celebrated in equal measure. We're building a creative community and we're committed to supporting every stage of an artist's journey, from a first tentative lesson through to a first sale, and everything in between.
our approach
We're passionate about showcasing local talent and our exhibition programme exists to do just that.
Every show features work from artists living and creating right here in the county from painters, sculptors, photographers, and makers.
Our classes and workshops span painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media. Each taught by highly experienced working artists with passion, patience, and a genuine love of their craft.
Whether someone's picking up a paintbrush for the first time or refining a technique they've spent a decade on, they'll find a class pitched to meet them there.
Through open studios, artist talks, exhibitions and workshops, we're building a space designed to be used by students, by artists, and by anyone curious enough to walk through the door.
It's a space for anyone with a love of art to feel welcome, supported and part of a community.
MEET THE FOUNDER
Kate Hughes
As a lifelong creative Kate loves all forms of art and has always been drawn to making beautiful things out of basic materials, or repurposing items that would otherwise be thrown away. In 2019, after a long career as a cookery teacher, Kate decided to pursue her love of art full time. Specialising in mixed media landscape painting, her work is very much influenced by the beautiful scenery she is surrounded by including the country and coast.
Alongside her paintings she is currently completing a BA in Fine Art and Contemporary Craft at West Dean College, where she feels she is very much making up for lost time delving into other forms of art including ceramics, glass and textiles.
Ever the teacher and always keen to share her passion for art, Kate has now found her calling and spends her days teaching classes and workshops, championing the fantastic local creative talent in Hampshire, and nurturing a lively community art space.
