I’ve always been inspired by the natural world around me and the rolling Hampshire countryside has been very much part of my work since becoming an artist. There's something about the shapes, textures, and quiet details you notice when you really slow down and look that really captures my imagination. Leaves, flowers, seed pods, bark… they all hold their own kind of language.

So it was just a matter of time before I had to introduce my new nature-inspired art workshops! These workshops explore two different approaches to capturing natural forms: eco printing and botanical relief casting. Both are hands-on, experimental, and rooted in mindful observation, but each offers a unique outcome.

Eco Printing: Working with the Imprint of Nature

The first of my new workshops is eco printing. This is a process that feels a little like a conversation with the natural world. You work directly with leaves and flowers, arranging them onto paper or fabric before gently steaming them so their natural pigments and shapes transfer into the surface.

I love how unpredictable it is, and never being fully in control the outcome allows for a unique kind of beauty.

In this workshop, you’ll explore:

How different plants create different marks and tones

Bundling and steaming techniques

Building layered, organic compositions

Letting go of control and working with chance

You'll leave with a unique piece that will remind you of the natural world every time you look at it.

Botanical Relief Casting: Capturing Detail in Form

The second of my new workshops is botanical relief casting. This medium takes a slightly different approach whereby instead of transferring pigment, you’re capturing form and texture. Leaves and natural materials are pressed into casting surfaces to create detailed impressions that preserve even the smallest veins and structures.

There’s something really satisfying about seeing nature translated into a sculptural form—it reveals details you might otherwise miss.

In this workshop, you’ll:

Explore natural textures up close

Create your own botanical compositions

Learn simple casting techniques

Produce tactile, sculptural pieces inspired by nature

It’s a slower, more reflective process that really encourages attention to detail.

Why I love Working with nature

For me, these natural processes are really all about slowing down and noticing what’s there. Nature doesn’t rush, and working this way encourages a similar kind of pace.

It's my hope that these workshops will be as relaxed as they are creative, and are ideal if you’re:

Looking for a calm, creative experience

Interested in natural materials and processes

Wanting to explore something new without pressure

Drawn to tactile, hands-on making

They are part of my wider studio practice which an ongoing exploration of materials, process, and the relationship between making and the natural world.

All workshops take place at my art school in Hampshire and are easily accessible from Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke, and the surrounding areas.

If you’re curious to try something new and explore working with materials from the natural world, these workshops are a great place to start.
